Bullnose Natural Stone Steps in Oval, London, SW9

Ponari Builders carried out a full step replacement to the front of two houses in Oval, South London.

The first stage of the process was removing the old step covering. The steps were covered in tarmac which had cracks in it and was allowing water to go through. We removed the tarmac and made the surface of the steps ready for sealing.

The steps were sealed using Mapei 2 part flexible waterproofing render. The render was applied in 2 coats of 2mm thickness using a brush. The waterproofing solution ensures that the area under the steps is perfectly water tight.

The stone we used for the steps was supplied by London Stone of the Harvest Sawn range.

Each step was cut to size and laid using flexible exterior adhesive. Each step was inset into the sides of the wall to ensure a perfect finish.

The larger landings were tiles using natural stone paving of the same stone as the bullnose steps.

Once the paving was finished we proceeded to grout the steps using ivory grout and then we sealed the new steps and paving with natural stone impregnating sealer.
